UK Retail Assistant Manager
Job Description
Reporting directly to the UK Managing Director, UK Operations Manager and UK Finance and Operations Manager, The UK Retail Manager, the UK Assistant Merchandise Manager (“Assistant Manager”) is expected to assist in managing all aspects of merchandising operations for THE GREATEST SHOWMAN: COME ALIVE and any other projects as needed. This position serves as a main point of contact for senior management as well as on-site staff, while maintaining clear lines of communication at all levels and effectively managing the day-to-day operations efficiently and seamlessly. The Retail Assistant Manager will be required to work staggered hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain on-going communication and accurate dissemination of information between the on-site sales team and the Creative Goods Corporate Staff to ensure that all parties are informed of client needs and requests.
- Process all reporting efficiently, correctly, and on time.
- Identify, communicate, and delegate appropriate responsibilities to retail staff to ensure the smooth flow of daily operations.
- Oversee and manage all staff, as well as aid in the recruiting and onboarding of new team members, with assistance from the Creative Goods Corporate office.
- Facilitate the scheduling of team members, if requested.
- Coach and mentor staff, using a lead by example approach, and maintain a positive work environment.
- Oversee visual merchandising (with direction from Creative Goods Corporate), venue and production relations, selling, ordering, receiving, and audits of inventory, daily reporting and weekly settlement, cash deposits, POS management, and on-site technical troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate “the customer comes first” philosophy through staff training and coaching, while holding all staff accountable for delivering excellent customer service and collegiality.
- Greet patrons and aid in processing all merchandise transactions.
- Maintain working knowledge of all products and prices.
- Ensure lines are managed while maintaining enthusiasm and poise.
- Manage, receive, process, and replenish merchandise inventory as needed.
- Wearing a costume or uniform may be required.
- Assist with ongoing maintenance of any WIFI issues and troubleshooting with venue staff as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with theatre managers and staff, production supervisors, and house crews.
- Assist with creation, and updates, of show product menus and price lists.
- While these duties should serve as an overview of the position, duties and responsibilities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time by corporate management.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in theatre retail preferred.
- Events or performance background is preferred. Role playing skills are welcome and strongly desired.
- Experience operating Point of Sale systems.
- An organized team player with excellent verbal, math and written skills.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency with a results orientation.
- Maintains and protects confidential work matters and is collaborative and flexible.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite Apps (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and/or experience with Apple desktop and laptops is helpful.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb stairs as our locations and displays are throughout historic theatres, buildings and areas that don’t have lift access.
- Ability to climb ladders to install display elements safely as many are in areas out of reach.
- Able to stand long periods as we work at shows and events where we must move throughout the venues over the course of a show and sitting is rarely an option.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy items up to 25 kg without assistance as we receive regular shipments of merchandise that must be moved throughout the locations we work in.
