Job Description

Great Show Productions are looking for a Head of Automation and Rigging to work on the upcoming immersive production, COME ALIVE! THE GREATEST SHOWMAN CIRCUS SPECTACULAR. The Head of Automation and Rigging will oversee the installation and maintenance of all rigging and automation equipment to ensure that all systems operate smoothly during shows and rehearsals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the fit up of the circus rigging, automation and performer flying equipment;
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of all circus rigging, automation and performer flying equipment specific to the production to operate and maintain mechanized and manual rigging and automation equipment safely;
  • Supervise and manage the Automation and Rigging team;
  • Lead crew members in inspecting and maintaining all technical and rigging related equipment and systems;
  • Create and maintain all inspection, maintenance and all other required documentation for the safe and continued show operation;
  • Operate show cues, automation, circus rigging and performer flying systems and related equipment for performances and maintenance;
  • Maintain a safe working environment always by conforming to established safety policies and procedures;
  • Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the production;
  • Work collaboratively with all other departments within the company to meet all technical and artistic requirements for the show;
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications / Essential Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience in theatrical rigging, automation and performer flying in similar large-scale productions;
  • Previous experience with automation, Chain motors and performer flying systems;
  • Previous experience leading and managing a team;
  • Ability to climb and to work at heights;
  • Leadership and ability to work under pressure;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with Circus performers and equipment
  • Experience with Circus Rigging

Summary

  • Deadline: Monday 15th July 2024
  • 1st round interviews:18th July 2024
  • Start date: 5th August 2024 or thereabouts
  • End date: 21st September 2025
  • Location: West London
  • Performances: 7 performances per week Tuesday – Sunday
  • Salary: competitive weekly buyout fee
