Jaz Ellington

Singer

Jaz Ellington is a singer/songwriter whose voice has been described as a powerhouse of an instrument, with his music echoing influences of gospel, jazz, soul and funk.

At an early age, with a lineage of musician family members, Jaz was introduced to an eclectic mix of artists who all left a profound impact on his vocal style, including Doris Day, Stevie Wonder and Jill Scott.  In addition, the sounds of the gospel artist Aretha Franklin moulded together with the soul of musicians like Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross provided him with a well-rounded tapestry of influences to draw from for his music and vocal arrangements.

In 2012 Jaz was a contestant on the series one of The Voice UK becoming part of team will.i.am. Whilst on the show he performed a ground-breaking rendition of John Legend’s ‘Ordinary People’, stirring up a frenzy on social media and garnering the support of the judges and fans alike.

He was shortlisted to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest (2018) performing 'You' live on Eurovision You Decide for the BBC. Later the same year he released his first EP 'Enter The Nomad'

Jaz tours his solo concerts globally and sings with other artistes and writers including Emeli Sandé and Guy Chambers. He has also opened for the legendary Lauryn Hill and reunited with will.i.am on a project for N.A.S.A.

Jaz recently played the role of “Preacher” in the UK Tour Production of Bonnie and Clyde.
